EPILOGUE

A year had passed. I was standing before my mother’s grave.

Hi mom. It’s been a while since I last came here. I was too busy understanding life’s puzzle for me. And here I am I came out as a survivor. So many things happened, mom. At first I felt lonely when you left me, but I realized, so much people cared for me. Mom, do you remember when you said you wanted to see me smiling with that pink dress Dad gave me? Well, here I am. I didn’t think I would like this color again, but I really wanted to show this to you.

Harris then tapped me at the back.

Sorry, Cassie, time to go.
Five minutes.
Okay, I’ll wait for you in the car.

That was Harris mom, my boyfriend. He was the son of my step mom’s friend. Oh, I almost forgot, my step mom, Ingrid, and Dad will be married today. And if I don’t get in the car right now, I would be late for the wedding. See you again Mom. I love you. And I miss you so much.

When I got back in the car, Harris gave me a bouquet of white roses.

Happy anniversary, Cassie.
Happy anniversary too, Harris. I love roses. Reminds me of my mom.
Really? Then I’ll give you roses everyday.
Thank you. C’mon, the wedding will start on a couple of minutes.

On our way to church…

It hasn’t even started.
Hey, is that Galvin?
It is him! Hey, buddy!
Galvin, over here!

He still hasn’t changed. He was still wearing black and riding his skateboard.

Whoa, you two getting married already?
Freak. It’s my fathers’. Where have you been? How come I don’t see you at school anymore?
I transferred. Long story.
Gang fight?
Haha. You know me all too well ol’ chum.
Where are you going anyway? You seem to be in a hurry.
I’m trying to catch this new girl on board. Oh, there she is. Hey, skate girl!

I turned to the direction he pointed at. There I saw a girl on skateboard, wearing a black hoodie, a camouflage racer back, white pleated skirt that rested just above her knees and black chucks. She then skated away.

Hey, wait! Gotta go guys. See you around! And Cassie, you look great in a dress. (chuckles) Bye!

He then left to follow his new love interest.

Hmm, good luck to him. (smiles)
That girl kind of reminds me of someone I know…

Harris then looked at me. I punched him playfully. Then, we heard the sudden ring of the church bells.

Oh no! The wedding!
