Chapter 18: Imprisoned --- The Mysterious Kisser

Next week was our foundation day. It would certainly do well for me for there would be no classes for almost a week.

Two months and a half had passed since Ingrid had stayed in the house with me arriving from the hospital and still neither will I talk to her or my father for that matter. Ehem, speaking of the devil.

(knocks) Cassie, sweetheart, breakfast is ready. Please don’t skip your meal today.

Then the sound of fading footsteps was heard in the air. Why isn’t she offended every time I embarrass her? Can’t she have enough? I heaved a heavy sigh. When will she give up? I went through my window to escape. As usual, I used my skateboard to go to school.

I didn’t plan for speaking with her or dad for the rest of my life.

At school, Galvin approached me the minute he saw me.

Hey skater.
Hey to you too. What happened? You’ve been gone for weeks.
Uh, something came up yesterday.

Suddenly, he left with his board.

See you later, rocker. I have some business to attend to.

Weird. Yeah, that’s the word to describe him. I scanned our campus. Booths are scattered everywhere. People where having fun. Abruptly, someone clasped my hands with handcuffs.

What’s the big idea mister?
Guy: Sorry miss. I was just asked to do this.

The guy dragged me to a booth that has the words MARRIAGE printed boldly. Then, another guy blindfolded me with his handkerchief.

Hey!
Guy: Sorry, miss. Rules are rules.
What rules?
Guy: Someone who likes you wants to get married with you on our booth.

Who is this someone, then?
Guy: I’m afraid we can’t tell you. It’s part of the rules. It will forever remain to be a secret.
What? I’m getting married to someone I don’t even know?

Being blindfolded didn’t help either. I wondered. Who might like me?

Guy: And by the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You can now kiss the bride.

Wait a minute. Did he just said, KISS? For real? What the heck is happening? This isn’t even true!
