Confessions of a Teenage Writer

The day I learned how to hold my first Monggol pencil started it all.
The next thing I knew, ideas started running through my head and I can’t stop writing.

It all began at the age of 7, grade 3 akuh nun when I risked to make my first story.
And since I have the insights of a child, what more interests me more than to write FANTASY.
Don’t look at me you know how a child’s imagination could go.

My 1^st story was entitled, LUCKIRIOUS GIRLS (and you thought Powerpuff girls was bad) which I collaborated with my best friends, Anne and Ez. The story reflected each of our personalities.

Writing now was different from when I was 7 years old.
Ngayon I think about stories of which people can relate to.
The number of readers changed.

I’ve been writing for 9 years and I’m proud of it.
I saw not just my pieces develop but also myself.
I was beginning to appreciate the chirping of birds, the dazzling rays of the sun as it touched my face and the sweet scent of Mama’s cooking every morning when I wake up.
I started to be aware of my surroundings and I’m grateful for that.

I write when I saw my crush smiled at me fro the first time.
I write when my parents couldn’t stop fighting again.
I write when my best friend in kindergarten still remembered my birthday.
I write when I just saw a horror flick.
I write when I’m bored.
Heck I just write whenever, whatever I’m feeling.
And the end results would be fulfilling.

I maybe taking NURSING as my course but deep down inside me I won’t forget those random little stories I made and say, I was a born writer. World get ready for me.

The Name Game

Naisip kuh lang yung post na to when I was really REALLY [caps lock & bold] bored.

Pansin nyuh, whenever having birth, I think, the most exciting part is to name them.
Meron ibang parents na would go over board searching the net for unique names. (Ex. MERVIELLE XANTHE)
Some would make him a junior. (Ex. SIR RAFAEL JR.)
Some would use their favorite flower to name her. (Ex. CHRYSANTHEMUM)
And the list goes on. But akuh, my name is not that one-of-a-kind, but my personality made it distinctive from anyone else.

On the 21^st of May, I was born.
I was christened by the name KATHERINE MAY.
Katherine which meant “the pure one.”
And May which came from my birth month meant “the great one.”
Alam kuh, both my names could have a thousand matches around the world, kaya saan pa ba akuh babawi kundi sa nickname? =P

I had a lot of labels. Ehem, nick-names.
The most common and known was Kathy.
Back in elementary my friends would call me Kat2x. *Meow =3*
There was even a time when I was called Belle, kasi fave Disney movie kuh yung Beauty and the Beast.
But it didn’t last long naman.

In highskul, I was baptized with the nick, Katring, made by Ina.
Lakas trip eh.
Pero hands down talaga yung Kathy, I know its very common, kaya naisipan kung ibahin yung spelling.
At naging Kathie. =))
But it didn’t have any difference. Ganun pa rin yung diction.
Trin-nay kuh din yung May-may (pronounced as Mai-mai) yet hindi sya patok. =((
Haay. I’m stuck. I don’t wanna be just another face in the crowd.

And finally ngayong college, the birth of the nick Yam was made.
By who else? Eh di akuh. xD
How? Baliktarin nyuh lang yung second name kuh and there’s your answer.
And soon enough, it was the rave.
Yung Yammcy naman, made by my Japanese friend, Zimmy.
She made it cuter kaya I liked it.
I’m currently using it now.

The last room they came to was full of people who were just sitting around drinking coffee and relaxing. The man looked for a while and then told the devil this room would be all right. The devil gestured for him to sit down and the man took a seat. He did, sipped his coffee and felt really pleased with his choice.
